Is Demba Ba to Arsenal a good move?

According to the tabloids, Arsenal are hunting down the in-form Newcastle striker Demba Ba as he has a £7.5million release clause.

The Senegalese striker has been in lethal form this season netting 10 league goals in just fifteen games but with underlying concerns about his knee problem it makes a long term contract a big risk. The striker is currently stalling talks with the Magpies as he is rumoured to be asking for a staggering £90,000 a week.

At a glance it looks bad for Newcastle but in the long term it could prove a valuable piece of business. They signed Ba on a free transfer from West Ham and when both Papiss Cisse and Ba have lead the line they have not impressed. Cisse has scored a lot less this season but if Ba was to leave it would mean that he would secure the loan striker role and would become the focal point.

Demba Ba averages a goal every 123 minutes in the Premier league this season and I’m sure he would continue to net if he remains fully fit. Arsene Wenger is a shrewd customer in the transfer market and I’m sure the knee problem is something that may lead him to sign Jan-Klaas Huntelaar.
