Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss Terry Butcher wants to extend the stay of on-loan striker Philip Roberts and hopes a number of the club's other young players will sign new deals.

The Arsenal teenager is in Scotland until January but his current club are keen to extend the agreement until the end of the season. Butcher is also optimistic the likes of brothers Andrew and Graeme Shinnie, and Josh Meekings, will sign new two-year contracts. The Inverness boss said in the Daily Record:

"I have spoken to some of the players and we will wait and see what they have to say.

"I don't think anyone is playing badly at the moment and we don't want anyone to go.

"We have such a good young team and we regularly have around four players under the age of 21 in the starting line-up this season.

"Philip Roberts has indicated he would like to stay. We would like to get it concluded pretty quickly and I am very optimistic we will do it soon.

"He is such a smashing kid and he is enjoying his football with us.

"It is a great credit to Arsenal for loaning him to us and there is so much more to come from him."
