I resisted the temptation to sign United striker Owen, reveals Arsene Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he gave serious thought to signing Michael Owen before the striker made his Bosman switch to rivals Manchester United earlier this summer. Speaking ahead of Saturday's Old Trafford clash with United, the Frenchman revealed he was tempted to make a last ditch attempt to scupper Sir Alex Ferguson's interest in Owen - because the former Liverpool and Newcastle hitman guarantees goals. 'I must say that Michael Owen was a tempting solution because you know that if he doesn't start he can come off the bench and score goals,' Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.
