Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has been ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging groin and stomach muscles during Wednesday's Champions League exit at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
Henry came off the bench in the 1-1 draw against the Dutch side at the Emirates Stadium but ended the match in some discomfort.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had admitted any appearance by the France international in the second leg of the last 16 meeting was a gamble and the club captain has now been ruled out for three months.
Henry has scored 12 times this season but missed five weeks over the festive period with associated neck and hamstring injuries.
"Thierry Henry will be out for a minimum of three months," Wenger confirmed on the club's official website.
"Unfortunately, this means he will now miss the rest of this season both domestically and internationally, but we are confident that he will be ready for the start of next season."
After the Champions League defeat, Wenger hinted that he feared the worst over the fitness of his captain, saying: "Thierry has torn his groin and a stomach muscle and he will be scanned on Thursday.
"It's sad for him. It has been a difficult season for Thierry."
