Henry blow for Gunners
01 Dec 2006 - 15:19:30
Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has been ruled out of Saturday's north London derby with Tottenham after failing to recover from a neck injury.
The France international returned to action in the Gunners' midweek defeat at Fulham after sitting out last weekend's trip to Bolton with the same problem.
But following a recurrence of the injury, the seven-goal marksman has been forced on to the sidelines for the first ever meeting with local rivals Spurs at the Emirates Stadium.
"The bad news is he is not fit, but the good news is we are focused on winning the game," admitted Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
"I think it is a good time (to play Tottenham) as we want to bounce back from our two disappointments and win our game.
"I feel I have a strong team. It is right that they are young and I believe in them.
"They will get there as they are strong players and will develop very quickly. I know exactly what I want to achieve with them and I will get to where I want to go.
"I am convinced we are on the right track and this will show through."
