    Henry: No Barca meeting

    12 Jun 2007 - 13:53:58

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has described reports suggesting he is on the verge of signing for Barcelona this summer as "absolute rubbish".

A story in France Football claimed the 29-year-old had agreed a three-year deal with the Catalan giants, which prompted Henry's agent to threaten legal action against the magazine.

Henry told L'Equipe: "Nothing is done. I repeat, nothing. Writing about a meeting that never took place is absolute rubbish.

"At this moment I am an Arsenal player and in the same situation as I was last year.

"Last season people were announcing all over the place that I was leaving. Some people wrote that it would happen for sure but at the end of the day I stayed at Arsenal. It could be the same this year.

"I've not taken any decision and my name is not up on any departures board. If something happens, I will tell everybody."

In a statement, Henry's agent, Jerome Anderson had earlier said: "No meetings have ever taken place between Jerome Anderson and Barcelona in France or anywhere else, and Jerome Anderson will be seeking legal advice against France Football."

Henry penned a four-year contract with the Gunners last year, but renewed speculation about the Frenchman's future resurfaced last week when he hinted about a possible move.

He told ESPN that it was "great to hear" reports of interest in him from European champions AC Milan and went on to say: "I was devastated when Mr Dein left the club.

"I don't know what happened and I don't want to know but, whatever went on, Mr Dein leaving was not a clever move.

"Although no-one is bigger than the club, Arsene Wenger and Mr Dein are really close to being Arsenal.

"So if you ask me if there was one person on the board I would not like to see leaving, I would have said Mr Dein."
