Along with his agent, he seems to have been pleading to leave and threatening to go on strike ever since he made his name at the European Championships last summer. His club has enough money to not need to sell and, seeing as he agreed a very lucrative deal with them, they are holding on to him unless the transfer fee gets ridiculous. Agent Dennis Lachter, with echoes of Sepp Blatter's ridiculous claim about Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, insisted the club's behaviour was 'barbaric'. In reality it is a victory for common sense.
