Gunners warned off Diakite

Arsenal's hopes of signing French defender Mobido Diakite from Italian club Lazio have been all but dashed by the player's agent.

The 21-year-old has only made a handful of starts for the Serie A outfit to date, but is still rumoured to have caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

However, Diakite's agent, Pino Letterio, commented: "He is not moving away from Rome.

"Lazio is like his family and he has no intention to leave the Italian capital.

"There is no possibility that Mobido will leave Lazio also because he has just signed a five-year contract extension.

"Lazio does not want to see go a player they have helped develop leave."
