Gunners wait on Freddie
09 Oct 2006 - 08:09:12
Arsenal midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg may miss Saturday's Premiership clash against Watford after picking up a calf injury while on international duty.
The 29-year-old had to be substituted early in the second half of Sweden's Euro 2008 qualifier against Spain on Saturday and is already a doubt for his country's midweek game with Iceland.
"It wasn't a blow, but I got the injury when I was running," Ljungberg told Expressen.
"It got worse and worse, but it was an important match and I didn't want to go off.
"Hopefully, I will get an X-ray. But right now, it does not feel very well.
"I will talk to the boss and see what he feels. As captain, you should follow the side but, at the same time, Arsenal might want me to come back for treatment."
Ljungberg has scored 46 Premiership goals in 203 appearances for the Gunners since joining the club from Halmstads in September 1998.
