    Gunners refuse to sell Fabregas

    19 May 2010 - 11:42:28

Arsenal are reported to have stated that they have yet to receive an official approach from Barcelona for midfield ace Cesc Fabregas.

The 23-year-old Spain international is at the centre of frenzied media speculation over his future, even though the Gunners insist that they are not keen on allowing Fabregas to move on.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood told the Daily Star: "We are not remotely interested in selling him."

Meanwhile, Barca's sporting director Txiki Begiristain has stated that his club must respect the fact that Fabregas still has another four years left on his Arsenal contract.

He told Barca's official website: "It's great news that he wants to come here and I think that one day Cesc will have to come to Barca, but what matters is Arsenal and what their decision is.

"We have to respect Arsenal's wishes and the contract he has."

Fabregas had been quoted as telling the Spanish media earlier in the week: "If I ever leave Arsenal it will be to play for Barcelona. I would like to go, whether they want me or not is another matter.

"I am 23 years old and I have a long career in front of me. I've never hidden the fact that playing for Barcelona is a dream that I would like to fulfil.

"I would like to know my future before the World Cup because to play with other things in my head will not benefit anyone."
