Gunners lose injured Sagna
16 Nov 2008 - 11:40:42
Arsenal expect Bacary Sagna to be absent until December after the defender injured his ankle during Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
The France international full-back was stretchered off in the 71st minute of a costly defeat at the Emirates Stadium and afterwards Wenger revealed his disappointment at the early prognosis.
Sagna will miss France's friendly against Uruguay this week, but is also set to be absent from the upcoming Premier League games against Manchester City and Chelsea.
"Yes, it is serious," Wenger told the club's official website. "He will be out for a few weeks, he has an injured ankle."
Meanwhile, Wenger refused to rule out making some signings in January following his side's inconsistent start to the season.
"It is too early," he said. "We are mid November we have to see where we are at the end of December.
"Anyway at the moment to speculate about transfers won't help."
