Gunners face Fabregas worry
23 Aug 2009 - 10:57:30
Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of captain Cesc Fabregas, after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in the 4-1 thrashing of Portsmouth at the Emirates Stadium.
Fabregas had to be replaced at half-time of the win over Pompey, with boss Arsene Wenger waiting for the verdict on such a key player.
He said: "If it is a little pull he will be out for three weeks, if it is just tightness, maybe he can get away for Wednesday.
"In 48 hours, we will have a better view."
Meanwhile, Wenger praised the performance of versatile midfielder Abou Diaby, who scored the opening two goals on Saturday.
He added: "When he decides to play more defensively, he is exactly like Patrick Vieira.
"He has quick transition from box to box. When we are on the counter-attack, he is fantastic.
"This could be his season. He has all you dream to have to play in the Premier League."
