Gunners' problems mount
02 May 2009 - 11:11:01
Croatia international Eduardo's season could be over after he suffered a groin injury in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg defeat at Manchester United.
The striker returned to the first team in February after being sidelined for almost 12 months after breaking his leg in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham City.
However, he has suffered a series of niggling injuries in the last two months, making only two substitute appearances since early March.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has also revealed that Mikael Silvestre and Robin van Persie (both groin) and Gael Clichy (back) will miss the game at Portsmouth.
"Eduardo has a groin problem and Silvestre as well," said the French manager.
"Eduardo is ruled out for three weeks and Silvestre we don't know. But he will be short for Tuesday's game against Manchester United.
Clichy is out of it and Van Persie we will assess very late, Tuesday morning or afternoon. I don't know his chances.
"If he is 100 per cent fit he has a very good chance. If he is not he will not play in a game of that stature, that is for sure."
