Gunners: No Adebayor move
07 Jul 2008 - 10:47:09
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has warned Barcelona and AC Milan that they have 'no intention' of letting Emmanuel Adebayor leave the club.
The Togo striker has been strongly linked with a £25million move to either Spain or Italy this summer after sending out mixed messages about his future.
The 24-year-old pledged his future to the Gunners last week before later claiming he would be interested in joining either Barca or Milan.
However, Hill-Wood claims the former AS Monaco striker will still be at the Emirates Stadium when the new season begins next month.
"We want him to stay," he told the Daily Telegraph.
"Adebayor still has a long time left on his contract and we have absolutely no intention of releasing him from that."
Meanwhile, Hill-Wood has admitted the Gunners expect to lose fellow unsettled star Alex Hleb.
The Belarus midfielder has been linked with moves to Spain, Italy and Germany with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich reported to be suitors.
"Hleb has made it clear he wants to go," continued Hill-Wood. "I think maybe he will go."
