Ever since the departure of Gilberto Silva the Gunners have been lacking that key man in their midfield as Arsenal have criticised for not adding steel to their technically gifted midfield. The solid presence and security in the middle of that park has been lacking. Arsene Wenger this term however is keen to rectify that problem as the North London side look to add grit to a team that is filled with guile.

Arsenal have long been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira but with Carlo Ancelloti effectively denying the wish to sell the World Cup winner, Arsenal now switch their attention to another World Cup winner in Cristoph Kramer.

According to Daily Star, Arsenal are set to bid £20 million for the 23 year old who has already stated he is open to move abroad to new challenges. In an recent interview Kramer stated, “That [moving abroad] has always interested me. I would not be afraid.

"I want to find out what my limit is and I always strive for the very best."

The midfielder is currently plying his trade at Bayer Leverkusen on loan from rivals Borussia Monchengladbach for two seasons.
