Gunners book semi spot

Arsenal moved into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup with a 2-0 victory over Wigan at a freezing Emirates Stadium. Mexican forward Carlo Vela missed a great chance to put the Gunners ahead after 26 minutes when he chipped the ball wide with just goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi to beat. Wigan then lost Victor Moses to a suspected broken wrist before Arsenal went ahead after 42 minutes through an own goal. Theo Walcott's corner caused all sorts of problems in the Wigan six-yard box, with skipper Antolin Alcaraz - just back from suspension - flicking the ball into the net under pressure from Nicklas Bendtner. Arsenal doubled their advantage after 67 minutes when Vela was put clear down the left and his low centre was bundled in by Bendtner from two yards. In stoppage time, substitute Samir Nasri broke into the box and rounded the keeper but his shot was cleared off the line by James McArthur.
