17 April 2012 11:04
"He has followed a route like Theo Walcott, coming from Southampton. He was one of their youngest players. He moved to Arsenal and he is looking the business - top quality. He is looking strong, skilful, he is looking very effective and he is looking a goalscoring as well. The sky is the limit and you hope that is achievable.

"I think it is important when you have got an England squad with players you know from last time, that for some young players there is be a place for them. They need that experience. It is always nice to see a manager accommodate players who have done well in the younger England teams and he would be one of those. We have got a good batch coming through - Jack Rodwell, Jack Wilshere, Phil Jones - and Alex is in there with them. We should be pleased we have got these youngsters who look as though they can come through and be really top class."
