Gordon Taylor on PFA Players' Player of the Year nominee: Robin Van Persie

17 April 2012 10:41
"He has been amazing. When you think of the players Arsene Wenger has brought to the club. He came from Feyenoord for £2.75million I think and that is incredible really. When you think of Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooy, Van Basten - he is in that mould of absolutely top-quality strikers that Holland, quite phenomenally, manages to produce. When you think of the season he has had, so many goals, you could have picked half a dozen of his goals out for goal - not just of this season - but any season. When you think of that volley he put in - it is just top-quality skills. Arsenal were struggling for some time and he was a real talisman for them. He seems to have lifted the team and got them back believing in themselves again and looking to qualify again for the Champions League, giving all the Arsenal fans some hope. He really has been that talisman and tcaptain. There is obviously a good relationship between him and the manager and that coming together has really worked well.

"When you have got somebody like him who can get goals, it gives a belief to everybody. When he is in there and doing well, I am not surprised Arsenal are bouncing back in the way they are."
