Glorious Gunners run riot at Goodison

15 August 2009 18:43
Arsenal got their season off to a remarkable start as they tore poor Everton apart at Goodison Park with a stunning display and a 6-1 victory. They were three ahead at the break through Denilson - from the edge of the box - and headed efforts from Thomas Vermaelen and William Gallas. Things went from bad to worse for the Toffees in the second period when Cesc Fabregas scored twice, to add to his pair of assists, and cap an outstanding personal performance. Substitute Eduardo netted the sixth before Louis Saha scored a late consolation goal in injury-time into an unguarded net.
