Giroud in, Chamakh out... hopefully

It's being reported that the deal is being done to bring Olivier Giroud to The Emirates.

The Mail and the Telegraph both carry quotes attributed to Montpellier deputy president Laurent Nicollin intimating that talks are ongoing...

"Discussions are happening and going well, as part of the clause set. Things are moving serenely" he says.

A four year contract and forty-five grand a week will be Giroud's reward for putting pen to paper. This will enable Wenger to get shot of the hapless Chamakh - to say he hasn't adapted to the Premier League would be an understatement.

A three-pronged attack of van Persie, Podolski and Giroud does sound rather appealing, but at the moment we can only be sure of one of the three players being at Arsenal next season.

RvP's premature exit from Euro 2012 means that he can take an early holiday and hopefully sort out his future in good time - personally I believe he'll stay, but it remains to be seen whether or not his head will be turned by the buckets of cash being offered elsewhere.

Perhaps we should offer him buckets of cash as well? - now there's a novel idea...
