Vic Akers, who is moving upstairs as General manager, confirmed that the the former Scottish FA Head of Youth Development in ladies football will take the reins next season. 'Tony Gervaise is taking over,' Akers said. 'We took him on last year to run the academy with the plan being for him to take over from me at the end of the season. 'He's got a great staff around him and I'm sure he'll do well. I'll still be around anyway, if he needs me.' Going out in style: Vic Akers (left), seen here with Arsene Wenger and Pat Rice Former Cambridge and Watford left-back Akers, who has been at Arsenal for 22 years and serves as Arsenal men's first team kit manager, got the perfect send-off from the Gunners' gals, who beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park to land the league title, securing a domestic treble in the process. It was their 32nd trophy under Akers's leadership, making him the most successful English manager in the country. 'It was a great way to finish,' said Akers. 'The girls did brilliantly all season, much better than anyone expected, because we lost so many players. I can't speak highly enough of them. They did the club proud.'
