Gazidis confirms Wenger stay

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has stated that manager Arsene Wenger is 'clearly staying' at Emirates Stadium. Gazidis' comments follow Wenger's confirmation on Wednesday that his foreseeable future lies with the Premier League club. The French coach had been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid after a fourth straight season without silverware led to criticism from a number of Gunners supporters and shareholders. However, despite Wenger revealing that he found candidate for the Real presidency Florentino Perez's project "interesting", he later voiced his commitment to Arsenal. Gazidis has now confirmed Wenger has the club's 'unequivocal support' and is keen for him stay beyond his current deal, which expires in 2011. The former Major League Soccer deputy commissioner said: "He is clearly staying. We've said that, he said that. "He has the full support, unequivocal support of our board. "We believe in the strategy we've embarked upon."
