Arsenal youngster Philippe Senderos faces at least three months out after sustaining a fracture to his foot.
The 18-year-old Swiss centre-back has yet to feature for the Gunners first team after joining from Servette in the summer and boss Arsene Wenger fears that Senderos' season may be over.
He told the club's official website: "Philippe had surgery on Tuesday because he broke down again.
"We wanted to push it as far as we could, but this time we had to take action.
"The surgery has gone well, but you can say that his season is 90 per cent over.
"It will be three months from now. You never know, he might play a few games, but he will only be competitive again in May."
