Flamini wins France call-up

Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has been called into France's Euro 2008 squad as cover for Patrick Vieira, who is struggling with a thigh injury.

The 24-year-old, who agreed to move from the Emirates Stadium to AC Milan earlier this summer, was omitted from France's 23-man squad last month.

However, he could now feature in Austria and Switzerland after captain Vieira was forced to sit out two warm-up games and missed training on Friday.

"Flamini is arriving at Clairefontaine (France's training camp) and is added to the 23-man squad," confirmed team spokesman Yann Le Guillard.

France have until 8 June to make any changes to the squad in case of injury.
