FIFA end Hawkeye proposal

The Premier League's hopes of introducing Hawkeye technology to assist with controversial goal-line incidents appears to have been scuppered by FIFA.
The league had hoped to introduce the technology from the start of the 2009-10 season following a series of trials.
However, FIFA have now ordered a halt to such trials following a meeting of the International Board at Gleneagles.
The International Board is made up of representatives of the four home associations and also FIFA.
Instead, the game's governing body wants to experiment with two extra assistant referees standing behind each goal-line.
"I think goal-line technology is now dead in the water and that is a disappointment to the FA - although we absolutely respect the democracy of the International Board," revealed FA chief executive Brian Barwick.
"The FA have always been in the vanguard of wanting to help referees make the right decision, so we are disappointed that the goalline technology has been shelved."
Premier League general secretary Mike Foster added: "The Premier League had wanted to have this in place for the 2009-10 season.
"The clubs had been driving this and they had been more anxious than anyone to have a system in place. The referees were all in favour as well."
