Fed-up Fabregas owes Gunners one more year

TEAMtalk's Sam Nightingale thinks Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has time on his side and should stay at Emirates Stadium for one more season.[LNB] The midfielder has reportedly told Gunners boss Arsene Wenger that he wants a return to Barcelona, where he began his career in their youth set-up.[LNB]It would not be a surprise if Fabregas has told Arsenal that he wants to leave, given the fact he has only won the FA Cup in 2005 since joining the club from Barca two years earlier.[LNB]Fabregas must have looked on with envy as Barca won La Liga this season following an unprecedented Sextuple last year, when they won the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.[LNB]However, if Fabregas does return to Barca he is not guaranteed a first-team place, which he has at Arsenal, with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets already dominating central midfield at the Nou Camp.[LNB]If Fabregas wants to leave and will not take no for an answer then the best thing is to let the Gunners captain go, as hard as it would be for Gunners fans to accept, as he is the heartbeat of the team.[LNB]But I think the playmaker should give Arsenal another year as time is on his side - he is only 23 years old. Perhaps a compromise could be reached where Arsenal allow Fabregas to leave next summer, as seemingly occurred when Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo expressed an interest in joining Real Madrid in 2008, only to eventually stay on at Old Trafford for one more season before moving to the Bernabeu in 2009.[LNB]The problem for Arsenal fans is that the Gunners continually sell their best players. While it could be argued the likes of Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira were moved on at the right time as they had reached their peak, the departure of Fabregas would be a real blow, as his best years are, most definitely, ahead of him.
