Fabregas voices attack worries
08 Dec 2009 - 09:05:48
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has admitted that his team miss the presence of a world-class striker, following the summer exit of Emmanuel Adebayor and the loss to injury of Robin van Persie.
Fabregas is concerned that the Gunners can be overpowered in some games and feels that boss Arsene Wenger needs to add a different option to his squad in the January transfer window.
He told The Guardian: "Throughout the game against City we had a lot of possession, but didn't really have anyone to go in behind the defenders, apart from Carlos Vela.
"We had a lot of similar players who like the ball into their feet. Sometimes it's true that you need a different kind of option."
The Spaniard then pointed to the influence of Didier Drogba in Chelsea's recent 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.
He added: "Overall, I saw a Chelsea team that was normal, but a team that has probably the best striker in the world.
"An average team that has the best striker in the world can always do something and Didier Drogba makes all the difference."
