Fabregas targets Chelsea return
23 Sep 2010 - 14:23:39
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is hopeful of being fit for the crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea a week on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Spain international midfielder suffered a hamstring injury when he scored in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland last Saturday and was initially ruled out for around three weeks.
However, Fabregas is upbeat about his prospects, telling Spanish radio station COPE: "The injury is not as bad as we first thought.
"There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about ten to eleven days.
"I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day to day. I think I will make the Chelsea game."
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was a little more cautious about his star player, adding: "I hope that he will be ready for the Chelsea match and that he will be fine.
"But at the moment we don't know, it's too early."
