    Fabregas shuns Spain return

    15 Nov 2007 - 08:48:33

Arsenal's midfield ace Cesc Fabregas has slammed the door shut on continuing rumours of him making a return to his native Spain in the near future.

The 20-year-old has confirmed that both Real Madrid and former club Barcelona have shown an interest in his services, but Fabregas says he is more than happy to remain with the Gunners.

He told reporters: "I'm not even thinking about returning to Spain. I don't even listen to the offers that come in for me, because I don't need anything that I haven't already got at Arsenal.

"It's nothing to do with money. If it was I would have gone to Real Madrid last summer. I am not moved by money, I am moved by football.

"People said I left Barcelona to go to Arsenal for the money and now they are having to eat their words.

"I came to become a good footballer, to grow, to play at the highest level."

Meanwhile, Fabregas' Arsenal team-mate Abou Diaby has admitted that he might consider moving on from the Gunners, having failed to hold down a regular starting spot under Arsene Wenger.

He commented: "I remain patient and do not give up because I know that my chance will come. The team is doing well, so I have to show patience.

"I am not playing, but I do not think that it will last until the end of the season. The season is long, so I do not plan a move yet. Maybe later if it continues, but not in January."
