Fabregas eyes Real future
28 Jul 2008 - 07:34:25
Arsenal midfield star Cesc Fabregas has opened the door to a move to Real Madrid, but not until the end of the coming campaign at the earliest.
The 21-year-old Spain international has become one of the continent's leading playmakers since moving to England from Barcelona, but Fabregas admits that the lure of Real will be hard to resist.
Fabregas hinted that only the Gunners winning the Premier League title this season would be enough to see him stay with the north London club in the long term.
"I didn't tell (Real president) Ramon Calderon no," he told Marca. "I told him that now wasn't the time to go to Madrid.
"That you are wanted by Madrid, one of the biggest teams in history, is important.
"To be four seasons without winning any titles would be too much for me and Real Madrid are the favourites to win La Liga this year."
