Fabregas denies quit quotes
28 Jul 2008 - 13:48:03
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has angrily denied reports quoting him as saying he might quit the club next summer if they failed to win the Premier League title.
The 21-year-old Spain international, who helped his country to glory at Euro 2008, was quoted in Marca as saying that silverware was the key to his future.
He reportedly said: "I didn't tell (Real president) Ramon Calderon no. I told him that now wasn't the time to go to Madrid.
"To be four seasons without winning any titles would be too much for me and Real Madrid are the favourites to win La Liga this year."
However, Fabregas later put the record straight in saying: "I have not spoken to any media, so it's frustrating to read quotes that I have supposedly said about my future.
"I have spent the summer relaxing with my family, friends and girlfriend and I return to training with Arsenal tomorrow.
"I think that some people are just trying to make mischief, but my intentions are very clear.
"I am happy here at Arsenal, my future is with Arsenal and the priority is to achieve success and win trophies at Arsenal."
