Fabregas confirms Real talks
31 Mar 2009 - 11:26:26
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he has spoken on the phone with former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, but denies having discussed a possible transfer.
The 21-year-old Spain international is under contract with the Gunners until the summer of 2014 and insists that his immediate future lies at the Emirates Stadium.
He told El Mundo: "It's true the president of Real Madrid called me personally, we spoke on the phone.
"But I never gave him my word that I was going to sign for Real Madrid. He asked about my progress and that was it.
"I have not given him, nor anyone else, the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me.
"I am a person of my word and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal.
"Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear.
"It is an incredible compliment that two of the most important clubs in the world are interested in you, but I am an Arsenal player and have a contract with them until 2014."
