Fabregas is not joining us, insist Barca amid claims of verbal deal for star

Barcelona have denied they have agreed a deal to sign Cesc Fabregas.[LNB] The future of Fabregas at Arsenal was plunged into fresh doubt after it was claimed he had verbally agreed to join the Spanish giants.[LNB]Fabregas is a long-time target of the Spanish giants but despite Arsenal's four trophyless seasons, the Spanish midfielder has remained committed to the north London club.[LNB] Leader: Cesc Fabregas is Arsenal's prized skipper[LNB]Yet, Barca have now rejected claims a deal has been reached. [LNB]A club statement read: 'Given the exceptional repercussions created by the stories that have appeared in different media with respect to an agreement with Arsenal FC player Cesc Fabregas, FCB flatly denies that there have been any negotiations or agreements with the player.[LNB]'In accordance with FIFA regulations, FC Barcelona's contract policy has always made it a priority to negotiate with the club of origin before making any particular agreement with the player.[LNB]Exit: Thierry Henry left Arsenal for Barca[LNB]'FC Barcelona wishes to stress that it has always maintained excellent institutional relations with Arsenal FC.'[LNB]There were widespread reports in the Spanish media on Wednesday that Fabregas was on his way back to Spain.[LNB] 'There is a firm agreement between Barca and Cesc Fabregas, even ifit is only verbal,' reported Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.[LNB]'Several meetings have taken place and, following those meetings, Cesc told Barca that he wanted to rejoin them from next season.' [LNB]Cadena Ser added that the deal would be subject to agreeing a fee with Arsenal.[LNB]Fabregas is Arsenal's top scorer with 14 goals in all competitions this season and is under contract with the Gunners until 2014.[LNB]Fabregas has been chased by both Real Madrid and his boyhood club Barcelona, who he left to join the Gunners in 2003 at the age of 16.
