Fabianski suffers fresh injury
29 Oct 2009 - 17:16:51
Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been ruled out for three weeks after suffering a thigh injury in the Carling Cup win over Liverpool.
The 24-year-old Poland international was making his first appearance of the season, having undergone knee surgery in the summer.
Manager Arsene Wenger told the club's official website: "We have lost Lukasz Fabianski with a thigh injury.
"He will be out for three weeks. Of course it is big disappointment because he has just come back from injury."
Meanwhile, midfielder Fran Merida, who impressed in the 2-1 victory over the Reds, is hoping to agree a new contract with the Gunners in the near future.
He told the club's official website: "At the moment I am talking to the club so I don't know what is going to happen.
"I am really happy here so hopefully everything is going to be okay. We are going to sit down and talk about a new contract."
