FA CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW

29 November 2010 00:16
Manchester United host Liverpool in the pick of the ties but splinter club FC United of Manchester will face last season's runners-up Portsmouth in the third round of the FA Cup if they win their replay at home to Brighton a week on Wednesday. [LNB]United, formed by disillusioned fans when the Glazers bought Manchester United in 2005, are in the seventh tier of English football but held on with 10 men to earn a draw at Brighton in the second round on Saturday and will fancy their chances of setting up a tie against Steve Cotterill's side.[LNB]Luton, Crawley, Droylsden and Dover are the other non-League teams still in the competition, and it is Luton who could land the most glamorous tie with a trip to Tottenham awaiting them if they win their replay against Charlton on Tuesday week. [LNB] Up for th cup: Goalscorer Nicky Platt embraces FC United of Manchester manager Karl Marginson after earning a replay against Brighton[LNB]Dover hope to knock out a third League team, after victories over Gillingham and Aldershot, when they travel to Huddersfield and Crawley will host Derby if they beat Swindon. Droylsden, of the Blue Square Bet North, face League One Leyton Orient tonight with a trip to Norwich the prize for the winner. [LNB]Some of the Premier League's bigger names face awkward ties. Arsenal host Leeds, who knocked Manchester United out at Old Trafford in the third round last season, and holders Chelsea entertain Roy Keane's Ipswich. [LNB]League Two Stevenage will fancy their chances of causing an upset at home to Newcastle, who they took to a replay 13 years ago. [LNB]The most bizarre moment of the draw was when Kasabian lead singer Serge Pizzorno, a Leicester fan, drew his team at home and then Noel Gallagher, of Oasis fame, pulled out Manchester City, the team he supports, to meet them.[LNB] Team to beat: Chelsea were unstoppable in the FA Cup last year[LNB]Conducting the draw with Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno, former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher will no doubt be delighted to hand a tough tie to United. [LNB]And in a remarkable coincidence, Manchester City supporter Gallagher managed to pair his own side with Pizzorno's beloved Leicester City for a tie that sees Foxes boss Sven Goran Eriksson welcome his former employers to The Walkers Stadium.[LNB]Here is the draw in full...[LNB]Burnley v Port ValeCoventry City v Crystal PalaceBristol City v Sheffield WednesdayFulham v PeterboroughDoncaster v WolvesBrighton/FC United v Portsmouth Huddersfield v Dover AthleticCrawley/Swindon v Derby CountyWest Ham v BarnsleyReading v West BromArsenal v LeedsSheffield United v Aston Villa Leicester City v Manchester CityBolton Wanderers v York CityBlackburn Rovers v QPRSwansea v Colchester UnitedWycombe v Hereford United/Lincoln CityStevenage v Newcastle UnitedBurton Albion v MiddlesbroughMillwall v Birmingham CitySouthampton v BlackpoolWatford v Hartlepool/YeovilChelsea v Ipswich TownSunderland v Notts County/BournemouthScunthorpe v EvertonManchester United v LiverpoolHull City v WiganStoke City v Cardiff CityTottenham Hotspur v Charlton/LutonPreston North End v Nottingham ForestNorwich City v Droylsden/Leyton OrientTorquay United v Carlisle United(Ties to be played on the weekend of January 8/9)[LNB] FA Cup second round: Crawley earn Swindon replay as Vale see off StanleyClick here for the latest FA Cup results, fixtures and more in our brilliant Stats Zone[LNB] [LNB]  Explore more:People: Sven Goran Eriksson, Noel Gallagher, Roy Keane Places: Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich
