English football is a financial mess and it's the worst it has been, claims Wenger

Speaking out: Arsenalboss Arsene Wenger[LNB]Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fears English football is out of control because of spiralling debts.[LNB]The Frenchmen claims the financial situation is the worse it has ever been during his 13 years in this country since he became manager of Arsenal in 2006.[LNB]He also accused moneybags Chelsea and Manchester City - who paid a British transfer record of £32.5m for Robinho - of 'half cheating' their way to the top as both clubs are backed by billionaires and not run as businesses.[LNB] Wenger wrote in The Sun: 'It is certainly the worst financial situation in my 13 years in English football. Professional football is about winning and balancing the budget.[LNB]'That's the basic rule and one I fought for at Arsenal. The rest is half-cheating. Other clubs have artificial income from owners. They do not live off the money from the game.[LNB]Mega money: Robinho cost Manchester City £32.5m[LNB]'We live in a competitive world and that's why I say some of what happens now is financial doping.'[LNB]Wenger says the situation has got so bad clubs who are strugglingfinancially are just preying they will be bought by a Russianbillionaire or a Saudi prince.[LNB]'All the clubs living in debt think a rich owner will come and buy them,' added Wenger.[LNB]'It happened to Chelsea and it's what we thought happened atPortsmouth. I can't understand why the transfer market is busy when somany clubs are struggling financially.'[LNB]The Gunners manager also admitted it is possible a Barclays PremierLeague club could be forced into administration and defended the wayArsenal do business at the Emirates.[LNB]He said: 'I don't know if a club will disappear. I hope not. Ultimately clubs should belong to the fans.[LNB]'That's all my responsibility is - to keep the club in good financial condition with them in mind.'
