Emerton urges Samba to stay put
Published : 09 Aug 2011 12:19:00

lackburn winger Brett Emerton is hopeful the club can hang on to star defender Christopher Samba as he is an "important" player for Rovers. The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer - but Australian international Emerton has urged him to stick with Rovers. Emerton said: "It's very important (Samba stays). He's an important part of our team and I think the club will do everything they can to make sure he stays. I for one hope he does. "It's been a good pre-season so far and everyone's managed to stay fit and healthy. We should have a fully-fit squad to pick from." Rovers open up their Premier League campaign with a clash with Wolves at Ewood Park on Saturday. Emerton added: "We've got a good record against Wolves of late and hopefully that will continue."
