Dinamo Moscow 0 Celtic 2: My brave Bhoys got what they deserved, insists Mowbray
A delighted Tony Mowbray insisted Celtic got what they deserved after masterminding tonight's historic last-gasp Champions League victory over Dinamo Moscow.
The Hoops arrived in Russia 1-0 down having never won a European tie after losing the first leg at home.
But Scott McDonald's header a minute from the break at the Arena-Khimki levelled matters and a sensational last-minute strike by substitute Georgios Samaras then sent the Parkhead side into the next round.
'I think we got what we deserved in the end,' said new manager Mowbray.
'Over the two 90 minutes, the better team came through the tie. I said all along they're a very good side, a very organised side, but they at times lacked the individual quality that I thought we had and that's shown tonight.
'I thought we controlled the game for long, long spells and got our rewards in the end.'
He added: 'I always believed we'd score tonight. Nobody's getting carried away. If you get beaten, you're not a bad side; if you win, you're not a brilliant side.
'We've got a lot of hard work ahead of us and we've got to keep going. We came here trying to be positive tonight, believing that we had better players than them and try to control the football match and I think we managed to do that.'
However, Mowbray warned Celtic face an even bigger test in the play-off round, with potential opponents including Arsenal, who beat Rangers 3-0 in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
'I sat and watched our big city rivals play against a world-class team last Saturday on the TV and they're in the pot for us to possibly draw them.'
