Diaby pens Gunners deal
30 Jan 2008 - 15:05:04
French midfielder Abou Diaby has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.
The 21-year-old former Auxerre youngster has become a fixture in manager Arsene Wenger's first-team plans this season and will now remain at the Emirates Stadium until 2012.
The ball-winning midfielder missed seven months of the 2005-06 campaign after suffering a broken and dislocated ankle.
However, after returning to full fitness, Diaby has made 55 appearances for the Gunners since arriving two years ago.
Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Mathieu Flamini has also revealed his desire to sign a new contract.
The 23-year-old Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the current season but is keen to put pen to paper.
"My priority is to stay here," he told the club's official website. "I'm very happy here. I'm happy to play in the team and everything is good.
"My representatives are talking with the club and I hope everything will be good. I want to play game after game. The rest, we will see later."
