Determination; the key for Olivier Giroud

The beautiful game of football keeps showcasing how quickly things can change. Upon dawning Arsenal colours on 26thJune 2012,fans across the globe celebrated the arrival of the big French forward. The weight of the world descended upon him with the departure of Robin Van Persie thus, leaving him the responsibility of leading the front line.

If the task of performing in the best league in the world wasn’tmammothin itself, he now had to fill the boots of a player who single-handedly had carried the team over the finish line the previous year. The start of the season for Giroud was anything but easy as, he went six games without a goal, although coming perilously close several times.

However, after this modest start he has started coming into his own (App: 22+12, Goals:13, Asst: 7) and claims his success is down to determination “We always need the determination, I think it’s a very important thing in football. When you don’t have It, you can’t play very well, because you need it. It’s important for me and all the team”.

Drawing comparisons with Arsenal legends like Thierry Henry & Dennis Bergkamp would certainly be inappropriate however;Giroud has just commenced what certainly can be a very successful career at Arsenal.
