Cox rues wasteful finishing from Baggies

Simon Cox believes missed chances were key to West Brom's Carling Cup defeat at Arsenal. The Baggies took the game to Arsene Wenger's young side and had chances to put themselves in the lead but, having had Jerome Thomas sent off, the tie turned in the Gunners' favour. Sanchez Watt and Carlos Vela capitalised on the one-man advantage to secure a 2-0 victory for the home side. After the clash, striker Cox admitted Albion needed to be better in front of goal if they were to have caused an upset. He told the club's official website: "If we score one the game opens out. It was a game of good chances but we weren't clinical enough. "I hit the target with most of them, made the keeper save and that's all you can ask. If I'm being extra critical I maybe should have scored two of them. "Playing large parts of the game with 10 men is always going to be difficult. We're disappointed because we had the chances to nick a win."
