Eduardo, the Arsenal striker, has been banned for two matches for deceiving a referee. Sportsmail congratulates UEFA for taking a lead in the fight against diving, but now we demand more action. It must not stop with one isolated incident. Eduardo Going down: Eduardo wins his penalty against Celtic, but has been punished by UEFA for deceiving the referee This newspaper believes this should only be the beginning in the war against cheating. Every player guilty of diving should receive the same punishment. If Eduardo is banned for two games, then Emmanuel Eboue’s yellow card for a similar offence does not fit. A booking for one, a two game ban for another? Double standards. No Diving And what about the other divers in the Barclays Premier League? The cheats are winning and the game must fight back. This is not only a problem facing Arsenal, a club with a rich tradition for playing with flair. The clampdown must apply to ALL players at ALL clubs. Cheating must be outlawed. Two-match suspensions are the way forward and clubs whose players regularly offend should be punished with points deductions or bans from competitions. UEFA, who are often full of hot air, have at least taken decisive action. Now English football must join the fight. It’s the only way to make players stay on their feet. Join our clean-up campaign and name and shame the divers. Leave your views below.
