Clichy plays down Madrid link

Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy claims he has no interest in joining Real Madrid following reports linking him with the big-spending Spanish club.

Real are in the market for a new left-back this summer and the France international is reported to be their number one target.

However, Clichy has played down suggestions that he could be following the likes of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo into a new-look Madrid side next season.

"I heard there is an interest from Real Madrid, but I have a contract with Arsenal which I intend to respect unless the club say otherwise," he told Sky Sports.

"It is great to be linked with Real but I want to win things with Arsenal."

The 23-year-old has made 177 first-team appearances for the Gunners since arriving from Cannes in 2003.
