Clichy eyes Evra's France spot

Arsenal defender Gael Clichy is desperate to oust Patrice Evra and make the France left-back spot his own. The 24-year-old only has two full caps for the French national team, despite being considered one of the best full-backs around, and is biding his time before he gets a run in the side. Les Blues are preparing to take on the Faroe Islands and Austria in must-win World Cup qualifiers, but Clichy admits pushing his Manchester United rival out of the side will be a tough task. "It was difficult at the start because there was first (Eric) Abidal and then Evra," he said. "The coach is asking me to push Evra to make him play better and that is what I am doing, but to be honest with you I want his position. "It is difficult - he plays in a very good team and has started the season well so I have to bide my time."
