    Cesc vows to avoid traps

    16 Jun 2009 - 08:44:37

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has vowed not to be caught out by reporters again after revealing that he never said he would sign for Barcelona if he received a call from his 'idol', Pep Guardiola.

Fabregas came up through the youth team ranks at the Nou Camp before joining the Gunners as a 16-year-old in 2003 and has often been linked with a return to the Catalan giants.

The midfielder was quoted in Spanish newspaper Sport on Monday saying that if Guardiola were to get in touch with him it "would be different" and he could finally return to the Champions League winners.

However, he later tried to set the record straight by telling Radio Marca: "I never said that. I would be really happy because Guardiola has been my sporting idol forever, and if he called me it would be a big thing.

"You need to be responsible not to fall into these sorts of traps.

"My future right now is in the same place. Arsenal have already said that I'm not for sale, which fills me with pride.

"If some day I left Arsenal, it would not be to stay in England. As everybody knows I really want to play in the Spanish league. In England the top four teams are much better than the others and in Spain it is more even."
