Cesc reveals Gunners talks
14 Feb 2008 - 14:36:46
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed he is in talks with the club over extending his already lengthy contract.
The 21-year-old Spain international is currently contracted to the north London club until the summer of 2014.
However, manager Arsene Wenger is keen to tie him down for the majority of the remainder of his career.
Fabregas has been in sparkling form for the Gunners this season and at one stage had scored 11 times from midfield from his first 16 games in all competitions.
"I have contract in force until 2014. I have six years remaining and I am talking with my club, who are interested in renegotiating it," he told Spanish radio.
"I want to succeed at Arsenal and that the club wants me is fundamental for me."
Meanwhile, Fabregas played down fresh talk of a move back to former club Barcelona.
The Catalan giants have been linked with a move for both Wenger and Fabregas at the end of the season.
"I am proud, I am from Barcelona and I have played there," he admitted.
"But now I only think of winning as many titles as possible here (at Arsenal)."
