Cesc plays down injury
14 Jan 2007 - 16:39:18
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas expects to be fit to face Manchester United next weekend despite picking up an ankle injury in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Fabregas was caught by Tugay towards the end of the match on Saturday evening and afterwards the midfield playmaker's ankle was immediately strapped with ice.
But despite initial fears that the injury might keep him out of the visit of the league leaders, Fabregas is hopeful of proving his fitness.
"It's a bit painful, but I'll be alright as I'll have a week to rest," he said.
"I'm sure I'll be able to play. It won't be a problem if the boss wants to play me."
Fabregas proved his importance to Arsene Wenger's side by setting up Thierry Henry for the second goal at the weekend with an intelligent pass which allowed the captain to lash home an unstoppable shot.
The 19-year-old former Barcelona trainee has made 32 appearances for the Gunners this season.
