Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has moved quickly to deny reports in the Sunday newspapers suggesting he has rejected the offer of a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The stories suggested Fabregas had turned down a £90,000-a-week offer to extend his Gunners deal until 2014 but the 21-year-old Spain international insists that is not the case.
Former club Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with the midfielder, but Fabregas told Arsenal's official website: "A newspaper report suggesting that I have rejected a new contract is untrue.
"The article is just mischief-making.
"Everybody knows I have a long-term contract and that I am happy here. I'm focused on doing my best for Arsenal."
