    Cesc: Gunners out of running

    26 Feb 2009 - 13:48:48

Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has written off his side's Premier League title chances for this season.

Fabregas has watched on from the sidelines with a knee ligament injury while his team-mates have slipped 17 points off the pace set by leaders Manchester United in recent weeks.

The Spain midfielder is due back in action next month but he doesn't believe he will be returning to a team with genuine title ambitions.

"It's not realistic to look at the league title now," he told the Evening Standard.

"You can never say never but we would not be intelligent to be looking right to the top of the league."

Fabregas insists the Gunners must now concentrate to getting back into the top four at the expense of either Chelsea or Aston Villa.

"To be intelligent now is to go game by game and think about who is directly in front of us," he continued.

"Now we have to make sure we put a run of wins together and don't lose more points.

"Aston Villa will drop points, of that I am sure, and that's why we need to be ready to capitalise at the right time."
