Cesc: Wenger still main man

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has backed Arsene Wenger to keep the Gunners in the hunt for silverware this season.

Arsenal suffered a major setback when star striker Robin van Persie joined rivals Manchester United, but new recruits Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla have quickly found their feet at the Emirates.

The Gunners moved into third place after Saturday's 6-1 thumping of Southampton and Fabregas, who left Arsenal to join Barcelona last season, believes Wenger has worked his management magic again.

"Arsene Wenger is amazing and I'm sure he will prove it again this season," he told The Sun. "He always finds the best young talent in Europe and has the courage to bring them in and give them their chance. "That is his special talent, the way he works with a player to build their confidence and encourage them to play, to perform at their best. "That's why I'm confident that Arsenal will again be up there challenging. "I hope so. I watch them every weekend because Arsenal still mean so much to me."
